Mr Robert Douglas
Chair of Governors
I am delighted to be able to serve as Chair of Governors for Wilfred Owen Primary School and to working with all the hard working and committed staff at the school. I have had a long career in education starting off as a secondary school teacher and then holding a number of senior management posts in education in Local Authorities. I have recently retired from full time employment but remain passionate about education and in providing all children and young people with the very best start in life
Mrs Ilia Bowles
Vice Chair of Governors
After 20 years of working in the public sector in a number of senior management roles, I am thrilled to have fulfilled my ambition to become a School Governor and be able to support the development of children in my community.
As a mum of two young boys, I am a strong believer that instilling a love of learning in children is key to their success and I feel lucky to serve in a school that shares my passion.
I am hopeful that my experience and enthusiasm will support the school in offering our children the very best start in life they deserve.
Mrs Vicki Boy
Parent Governor
I have taught in Secondary schools and FE Colleges for the past 13 years and I am passionate about education has and how the right support network can enrich and nurture a child’s life. I have two boys, one of whom attends Wilfred Owen. Through the role of Parent Governor and link role in Safeguarding, I hope to support the school to continue to provide excellence in Education and help to build relationships between the parents and the School.
Mrs Amy Jones
Parent Governor
I am new to the educational setting but have experience in local communities and work with local schools regarding financial well-being.
I am extremely passionate about the future of children’s education (I have two children who attend Wilfred Owen School) and believe that all children have the right to the best education, support and school experience possible to give them the best start in life. I am excited to be involved with such passionate staff and governors to ensure we make Wilfred Owen the best it can possibly be.
Mrs Karen Matthews
Staff Governor
I have worked at the Wilfred Owen School since September 2009 and I have represented the staff as a member of the governing body for the last 8 years. As Special Education Needs Co-ordinator my passion lies in creating an inclusive education where all children can succeed. I am privileged to hold the role of Deputy Head teacher in a school that shares my beliefs. I am an advocate for mental health and wellbeing, not only for the children but also for the staff and the wider community.
