Long Mynd – Year 3

Welcome to Long Mynd Class!

Welcome to Year 3! We’re thrilled to begin this exciting journey with your child. This year promises to be full of growth, discovery, and fun as we build essential skills that will support lifelong learning.

Our curriculum will take us on fascinating adventures both in history and geography. In History, we will travel back in time to explore the Stone Age and Iron Age, discover the wonders of the Ancient Egyptians, and learn about the bravery of Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to Antarctica. In Geography, we will investigate the importance of rivers and study the world’s different climate zones, learning how people and places are shaped by their environment.

In every lesson, we encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence, helping children to ask questions, think deeply, and share their ideas. With your support and enthusiasm, we’ll make this a memorable year filled with meaningful experiences and joyful learning. Here’s to a fantastic Year 3 – let’s embrace the adventure ahead together!

A Love of Reading
Reading is at the heart of our learning. Children will enjoy a wide range of texts, from gripping stories to fascinating non-fiction, and will have plenty of opportunities to read, listen, and discuss books that spark imagination and build knowledge. We are also lucky to have received brand new books for our class library – we can’t wait to open them up!

Enrichment Opportunities This year, learning will extend beyond the classroom through a variety of exciting enrichment activities. Children will have the chance to participate in outdoor learning, educational trips, and special projects that bring our topics to life. From exploring local historical sites to investigating nature in our school grounds, these experiences will help children connect classroom learning with the world around them, fostering curiosity, teamwork, and a love of discovery.

Here’s to a fantastic Year 3 – let’s embrace the adventure ahead together!
